We have been on a two-year routine. I suspect you could go further, but you
risk a more expensive repair if the system faults and damages the probe.

Hello Alex,

My understanding is that the recommended service interval is 20,000 hours,
which works out to about 27 months (a little more than two years).
You are already a little past the 20k hours mark.
You ask whether to push for the money right away, or gamble that you can wait
until after July 1st.
I suggest that you approach the financial people, and say that you are willing
to wait until July only if they promise to cover the costs of repair and
the downtime should the Prodigy fail before the maintenance is completed.

I think it would probably be fine to wait, but personally I am not willing
to take the risk.

Good luck,
Bob.

Hi,

This is a question for those who deal with the Prodigy cryo platform. Bruker
recommends servicing it every 2 years. As I began securing the funds for
the next service, I was instructed to postpone the service until the next
fiscal year (starting July 1) unless it is critical. As it turned out, the
university is currently facing financial constraints, which are leading to
the cancellation of all nonessential expenditures.

Given that Bruker performed the last Prodigy service in November 2022, I
would appreciate your recommendation—would it be safe to wait until July 2025
for the next service, or should I fight for the funding?

Thanks,
Alex
