Hi:
We have Bruker NEO systems with window-based computer and use ICON NMR for
users to run their samples. ICON NMR configuration was set so that the uses
can only log in their accounts, setup experiments, and log out from the accounts.
They cannot minimize/close ICON NMR. We want to limit the computer for NMR use only.
However, the user could get access to the computer by hitting Window Key on
the keyboard, accidently or not (I knew there are other ways to get access
computer from keyboard as well). I tried to disable Window key through gpedit
but didn't work. IT thinks this is a security issue since the user could
download/install something to the computer.
Do you think this is a security issue in your lab? How did you take care of
it if you did? Is there any way to prevent the users from getting access to
the computer or require permission before installing/downloading anything
to the computer?
Our School IT pushes us to include the NMR computers into University domain.
I have concern this might brake ICON NMR walkup operation. Do you have any
comment about domain?
