I would hate to see a move from unix based systems to the WinNT platform. The
workstations are IMHO the most stable, flexible and easy to maintain systems
around. Stability and flexibility are exactly what we need. Cost is not that
much of an issue compared with the total cost of the system. Who would use the
cheapest computer around to control a million $ spectrometer anyway? BTW, I
agree that a move to linux would probably be for the better. And I like Irix
too.
