The Department of Chemistry at Brown University (Providence, RI) is
recruiting a Core Facilities Manager which will oversee the NMR and MS Core
Facilities. The position is a full-time (12 month), staff appointment and
will be responsible for the technical, administrative, financial and
logistical operations of the NMR and MS Core Facilities. This includes the
overall operation of the facilities, the maintenance and management of
facility instruments, the training of all users, the oversight of
operational costs, and will collaborate with and contribute to internal
and external facility proposals. The successful candidate will oversee the
use and maintenance of the Department’s NMR

(Bruker 400, 400, and 600 MHz instruments) and MS
https://chemistry.brown.edu/research/facilities-resources/mass-spectrometry-facility
(LC-MS, GC-MS, MALDI-TOF) facilities. The manager will assist facility
users (students, post-docs, researchers) with spectra analysis using
current technologies and provides regular training to users on routine and
advanced NMR technology. Additionally, the incumbent will consult and
assist facility users with mass spectrometry-based analysis of synthetic
organic and inorganic molecules, natural products, metabolites,
oligonucleotides, peptides, and proteins.
Education and experience requirements include a Ph.D. in Chemistry or
related field. Spectroscopy preferred but not required, or equivalent
combination of education and demonstrated expertise in modern applications
of NMR and Mass Spectrometry including operation and maintenance. A minimum
of 2 years’ experience years in operation and/or maintenance of NMR and
mass spectrometer are required.
