Hi Suvrajit,
If the LED is off, the PSM3 is the proximate cause and must be fixed/replaced
first. We recently repaired one of our PSM3 boards: one of the two 12V LT1083CP
regulators was dead and needed to be replaced. We also replaced all
the electrolytic capacitors at the same time as they can fail over time.
To rule out the possibility of bad incoming power damaging the PSM3 again,
you may want to measure the voltage supplied to the console and ensure it
is in the ranges set on the AQS and BSMS power supply selector switches. If
the console does not have a UPS, you might consider one – in addition to
riding out short outages, they ensure a stable supply voltage.
Do you know if the previous fuse was blown or intact? If it was blown, then
the new fuse almost certainly blown too.
Best regards,
Sameer
P.S. Below are the voltages we measured on our board. And the perfunctory
disclaimer: these measurements require the board to be energized and should
only be done by qualified personnel.
The four rectifiers:
Rectifier Supplied Regulators AC voltage in DC voltage out
A 317 (+19V), 337 (-19V) 42.7 59.3
B 1083 (+12V) 15.6 20.7
C 1083 (+9V) 13.0 17.0
D 1083 (-9V) 13.0 16.9
The seven large electrolytic capacitors:

17.0 1083 (+9V) C

> Subject: [AMMRL] Avance Console Fails on acquisition #Bruker #Hardware
Our Avance 600MHz spectrometer started to give errors on acquisition commands.
The system locks, but fails on zg , wobb, and ii commands with various aqrackserver
exceptions. The +9V LED on the PSM3 is not lit. I tried replacing fuse 4 in the
PSM3 module, but the LED is still off. I have tried restarting the console,
doing cf, ii, etc but the errors are still there. The PSM3 on this spectrometer
had failed before (predating my time here). Is this a failure of the PSM3 module
or is something else going on, like a communication issue? The error messages we
received are as follows:
1. On executing zg command>
Error during BirdRack flush:
Error in flush():
aqrackserver exception:
Error in "flush": Cannot disable observe for Sgu: Error 140 in RX_1:BH SLOT
2 RACK 1:Power diagnostic failed
2. On executing wobb command>
Warning: cannot put RXS-1 asleep:
(Error in sleep: Error in sleepRXS():
aqrackserver exception:
sbsb error in "sleepRXS": Error 140 in RX_1: AW SLOT 2 RACK 1: Power
diagnostic failed) Wobble curve may show spikes
3. On executing ii command>
Error during BirdRack flush:
Error in flush():
aqrackserver exception:
sbsb error in "flush": Error 211 in ROU1: BH SLOT 8 RACK 1: No l2c acknowledge
received
I would greatly appreciate it if the AMMRL community could provide some guidance
about this. Also, if it is a PSM3 issue, is anybody willing to part with a spare
they might have?
Thanks,
~Suv
