Hi David,

We recently encountered a similar issue with our amplifier on the Avance NEO
system and are currently sending the amplifier to Bruker for repair. I've
attached an image of the error for your reference.

Initially, the error appeared during 1H experiments, but it soon started
occurring consistently with all proton experiments. Eventually, it also
affected 13C DEPT experiments. We determined that the error was due to the
reflected power on the 1H channel. Interestingly, we were able to perform
13C broadband experiments using the BB channel without any issues.

Here are the troubleshooting steps we followed to confirm that the problem
originated from the amplifier and not from the preamplifier or the probe, as
advised by the Bruker engineer during a remote session:

Troubleshooting:

  1.
We obtained a DC-6GHz 100W-40dB attenuator from our internal instrument repair
cell and found a 50Ohm impedance adapter in the blue spare parts box that
came with the NMR instrument.
  2.
We conducted a 1H experiment with our BBO Probehead, which resulted in the
1H amplifier reporting reflected power or general gating fault error.
  3.
Next, we connected the attenuator with 50Ohm impedance to the 1H preamplifier
output, instead of the Probehead, and repeated the experiment. The same
error appeared.
  4.
Finally, we connected the attenuator with 50Ohm impedance directly to the 1H
amplifier output and repeated the experiment. The error persisted.

These steps led us to conclude that the amplifier is indeed the source of the
problem. The detailed results and a picture of the setup are included in
the attached PDF.

Hi all,

Encountered an error I have never seen before. Amplifier on an Avance III
is giving a "Mismatch Fault General Gating Fault" error (see attached image).

History: Instrument has been running fine (mostly H1, C13, P31, Si29). I
went to run an HSQC (hsqcedetgpsisp2.3) and encountered that error shortly
after the acquisition started. Figuring I would tackle that another day, I
switched pulse sequences (hsqcdietgpsisp). That experiment at least ran to
completion, but with no correlations. Went to double check the C13 pw90.
Switched to zg pulse sequence and ran a scan at my calibration (10us).
Looked normal. Changed p1 from 10us to 30us to ensure the peak inverted and
I was at least reasonably close to 90/270. Simply changing p1 from 10us to
30us caused the gating error to show up again (this was reproducible).

Not very sure where to go from here. Any one able to provide some insight
please?
