This question came up about 15 years ago, when we had an old Oxford Mark I
600 MHz unshielded magnet.
There was a batch of IUDs made (and used) in China at the end of the 20th
century that did use a magnetically sensitive stainless steel alloy. I'm
not sure if they were ever exported to other nations, though.
Those were definitely considered a no-go for our magnet back in those days,
and especially not for working under the magnet (we didn't have automated
matching and tuning back then).

The question has come up recently in our facility if there is any concern for
users of NMRs with IUD's. We have one older Oxford magnet that is the only
one with a significant fringe field.
My limited 'research' indicates that most IUDs are safe for MRIs with the
exception of stainless-steel IUD's.
Does anyone have any further information specific to NMR use?
