Hello,
one should never think "easy job"...
Which means, I have a really challenging problem. ๐
After retiring, I wanted to help to update the computers of the routine spectrometers within my former working place to both the lastest OS and TopSpin versions. This is urgently needed, some of them still run under Windows XP. And of course to avoid trouble with the users, all TopSpin configurations should be kept as they are.
Quite simple, I mistakenly thought. Clone the hard disk (e.g. with the excellent Veeam software
https://www.veeam.com/de/windows-endpoint-server-backup-free.html), copy everything to a new computer, update the drivers and then upgrade OS and TopSpin without influencing the old workstation.
But there are really an amazing amount of pitfalls.
Now I'm thinking about another way. Install OS and TopSpin "from the scratch" and then install a backup of the TopSpin configuration. There is the "nmrbackup" functionality. I never used this for this purpose, my maybe I could transfer the whole TopSpin configuration using this tool.
I am sure that the same question has already been solved successfully elsewhere and would be very happy to learn from the experience.
Greetings from Munich
Rainer
PS: Hope, itโs possible to understand the challenge in spite of my bad English knowledge.
