Hi Brian,
it seems to me that I recently had a similar issue with my AVIIIHD console
where a reboot of the console resulted in a connectivity problem to the IPSO
unit (spectrometer not found during cf).
I solved it by re-installing the Diskless from the TopSpin installation file.
You can choose the Diskless installation seperately at least with newer
TopSpin installation files. After re-installing Diskless (which provides
the operating system for the console) and rebooting the IPSO/AQS unit
everything was working fine again.

I can connect to the DRU through the browser, but still fail to find a
connection to the CCU. There doesn't appear to be a power supply problem
anywhere. I've tried the reset on the CCU and a different ethernet wire
with no effect. I boot down in order of AMPS/BSMS/AQS/MAIN and power up
in the opposite order. It's always worked for me.
At this point I'm thinking the CCU board is faulting. Is this a common thing
with and old AVII?
