We also ran Openvmrj for many years on multiple instruments with Centos 7
and now we are running Alma 8. We had problems with Alma9 on our Inova.
The connection between the console and the computer would hang up often.
No such problems with Alma 8.

Hi Mike,

I too can recommend the OpenVnmrJ/Ubuntu upgrade path. I look after several
instruments that are running OVJ on Ubuntu 22LTS or 24LTS and we have no
issues.

Hi Mike,

We have transitioned our solids Varian instruments to OpenVnmrJ running on
Ubuntu. We had no issues with installing on Ubuntu 20 or 22, but have had
some small hiccups with 24 that are easily worked around.
Our one solution Varian instrument is still chugging away on CentOS 7 and
will probably not be upgraded anytime soon.

Hello Everyone,

We have been running VNMRJ 4.2 on our original Linux box (Dell T3500) with
Red Hat 5.4 for more than a decade now. Recently, we have been considering
replacing the Dell T3500 with a newer computer. While installing Red Hat 5.4
on a newer Linux box running CentOS, we encountered an issue. Specifically,
the system indicates that software is missing. This has happened across two
different Linux boxes. At the same point in the Red Hat 5.4 installation
process.

Has anyone encountered issues upgrading Linux systems with VNMRJ and Red Hat?
If so, what were some solutions?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Sincerely,

Mike
