What does the display on the cover module show--does that show all the modules?
I believe the number of preamps is limited to 2 if you don't have the auxiliary
power cable connected--is that connected to the back of the cover module?
Perhaps that cable isn't making good connection or has failed?
Other than that, I might try opening the HPPR up in UniTool (in Linux, open
a terminal and type in UniTool hppr (case sensitive I believe) and then you
have to press enter a few times to get it running. In UniTool you can
navigate through the menus--I would check the modules that it has listed as
connected. Also, is the ribbon cable connected properly--the empty
slots should be at the bottom and there should be no empty spaces.
If you swapped the cover module you've already tried a different ribbon cable
which I might have suspected.

The setup in the screenshot has one dual 1H/2H module (P1/P2) and an X channel
module - cf ist stuck at P3. If we plug in another module above or below then
it gets stuck at P4. Tried swapping the order if preamps shuffling them around
but it made no difference. Same behaviour with another top/cover unit.
Any ideas…?
