The Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
is currently recruiting students to participate in SUROC, our NSF-funded REU
program. During our 10-week program, students will conduct independent research
under the mentorship of one of our world-class research faculty. Students can
choose to work in a research laboratory in any of our six divisions: Analytical,
Biological, Inorganic, Organic, Physical, or Polymer/Materials.
SUROC 2024 cohort will:
* undertake hands-on research with UNC Chemistry faculty, postdoctoral associates,
and graduate students;
* build a strong scholarly foundation through weekly professional development
workshops; topics include scientific entrepreneurship, research ethics, creating
a strong resume/CV, scientific writing, and presenting scientific research;
* attend industry visits in nearby Research Triangle Park to consider the many
career options in chemistry;
* enjoy weekend adventures that explore some of the many activities the Triangle
Area of North Carolina has to offer at no cost to the student.
We provide a $6000 stipend, a $1000 food allowance, and on-campus housing worth
$2500 for the nine-week program. *I would like to invite you and any interested
