Maybe they’ve changed the way they set up the QT NMR systems? (ours
was installed in 2021)
In our case (7 magnets 300-500 plus a pumped 800, and a 200L dewar that we
use for fills, which almost always has some liquid in it) the large compressor
only goes on when doing transfers or fills. The rest of the time a small pump
in the liquefier controls the feed of gas from the header- and we have never
had an issue with it pulling excess boiloff from the magnets. A regulator
controls the feed in from the storage tanks- adding to what comes from the header.
Our liquefier runs 24/7.
And yes, the learning curve was kind of steep and annoying 😊 but
we’ve pretty much got it all sorted out now…
