UPDATE on switching to ALMA 9, it has been a couple of months and we have
had good success with the Z4 G5's.
So we solved all of our computer locking up issues on our workstations/server
by going from HP Z4 G4's to HP Z4 G5's. Not an ideal solution but the Z4
G5's do not have the problem of the system locking up.
We do have one Bruker system running on Alma 9 with Topspin 3.7.0 and 4 running
with topspin 4.3.0. So far there have been no issues with software or hardware
the users have had some issues but when do they not! We have 1 more 3.7 and 1
more 4.3 system to rebuild in the next few weeks.
For our 2 Varian systems (DD1 consoles) we are running Alma 9 with OpenVnmrJ.
Working well but the locator is not working and we have not solved this yet.
We have noticed that Alma 9 does have a quirk with Topspin and OpenVnmrJ that
once the NMR software is open you can not immediately type in the command lines
of either program. By clicking other places opening a terminal or other random
act you can type in the command line. Has anyone else observed this?
