Dear all,
I would like to search for an advice on our recent troubles with the Varian/Agilent
NMR System console installed in 2002 (I believe). After power off and replacing
ventilators in the amplifier, I could not get any communication with the console.
I traced the problem down to the dead ethernet switch. I replaced the fancy DELL
device with a cheap 8-ports switch and communication was up again.
Vnmrj (the last Agilent version, centos 6 computer) did not comunicate with the
temperature controller from the start but I fixed this by several restarts and
one /vnmr/bin/setacq. I can regulate temperature, I can acquire spectra.
There is still one thing that does not work: shims. It seems that the power
suply is not OK. Ventilators on the box (left down in the console) do not run.
I am not sure if this box is powered with 120 or 220VAC, guessing 220V AC. I
checked the two fuses available from the back, both OK. Powering from a wall
socket does not work either. Something is broken in the box...
I have two questions:
1.) what is a good replacement for the DELL PowerConnect 2324 switch? Or shall
we just stick to it?
2.) any comment on the shim box power problem? Is there a hope for an easy
fix?
