Dear all,
The inner X-coil of my 300MHz liquid probe recently burned. I don't know what happened, probably too much power was applied to it, but I cannot figure out how it happened.
I will have it repaired, but since I don't know the problem source, it is highly probable that the new coil will burn as well in a near future.
This is something that looks quite easy to build and replace. My concern is about the material used for building the coil. Obviously it requires an alloy with a very low magnetic susceptibility.
Tin or tin-silver alloy would be good candidates, but their melting point are very low and I don't expect it to withstand High Power pulses for a long time...
Could a probe specialist in the community share its knowledge and suggest me some material to use for such a project?
Thanks to everyone !
Pierre
