Hi Beth,
In the past I have used a Tripplite SU10000RT3U UPS for all my Bruker instruments.
These require 3 wire plugs for this UPS. (L6-30)
With my new Bruker consoles, they come with a different UPS requiring 4 wires
to the outlet you plug it into (L14-30) - an additional neutral wire. This
extra wire is not insignificant and requires pulling wire to every location
where this new plug would be installed. It was covered by our flood insurance,
but if it had not been, it would have been an extensive bill to use their UPS.
They say it's so that their UPS can use both 220 and 110 outlets, but I'm pretty
sure the SU10000RT3U will also. Also, their UPS uses 6000KVA, and that's probably
plenty.
The only things that are plugged into the UPS are console and potentially
Prodigy units. Any chillers should not be plugged into the same UPS.
Anyway, just consider the plug requirement for the UPS you pick and whether
it matches what you have existing in your lab.

Hi –
We are looking into installing an uninterrupted power supply for our labs
(three Bruker spectrometers). I’ve got a recommendation from Bruker, but I
wanted to offer management several options before we pick one.
What UPSes do you guys recommend? Are there any that people have found work
particularly well?
