We use Vertiv UPSes on our AV-series Bruker spectrometers, and are pleased.
These supply battery power whether there's line power or not, and use the
line power only to charge the battery. The battery power is nice and clean.
Years ago we tried another brand (can't recall the name) which supplied line
power when there was any, and supplied battery power only when the line power
failed. This worked on our old analog AMX, but didn't work on the (digital)
Avances because our line power suffers both long-term voltage fluctuations
and short-term jitter: overnight runs on the digital machine would quit
halfway through.
