Last I heard from Bruker is that there are no plans to bring Sort-by-date back.
You could instruct your students to always use the date in their filenames.
I also tell our students to stick with Topspin 4.1.4 on their own PCs and
provide new students with a copy of 4.1.4. Most of them don’t need
the newest features anyway.
You may also have noticed that the tuneb option in Topshim does not do anything
anymore.
Here the workaround is to use two topshim commands:
i.e., instead of “topshim tunebxyz tuneaz” (my favorite shim
for water suppression) type:
Topshim tune tuneaxyz
Topshim tuneaz
You can put the commands in a macro, but that does not seem to work correctly
in IconNMR. The macro starts the second command when the experiment is already
running. Maybe there is an easy workaround for this, too?

I agree the comments and realized it is inconvenient that the “sort
by date” feature was removed.
