Hi Beth,
I have printed way more things than I should confess to... But for larger
designs with a lot of flat surfaces I think laser cutting (or CNC) is the
way to go. 3D printing is great for complex surfaces or small objects. If
you can use something like Fusion360 or Solidworks you could design a
system with two plates. The top plate retains the top of the spinner, the
second plate secures the bottom and sets the depth of the spinner so you
can pick it up with your fingers. Below is an idea that I would make out
of acrylic or polyethylene. I also included a sample holder below and then
the actual laser cut product. Good luck. It makes the slow times more
enjoyable.
