 Hi John,

Swapping the sample changers should not be a problem.  Either console
will work fine with the samplejet and samplecase.

Wouldn't it be easier to simply swap the probes?  You should have the
right hardware to connect either probe to either cryoplatform.  I guess
if your real goal is to keep the TCI cryoprobe on the instrument with the
samplejet then your options are either swap the sample changers or swap the
consoles.  Swapping the sample changers can cause headaches if you're
not familiar with the samplecase.  Samplejet is less fiddly for the
most part.

If you do want to swap consoles to avoid the potential headaches of swapping
sample changers it should pretty much be a 1:1 swap.  I would recommend
disconnecting air hoses and sensor cables at the console end where you can.
You'll need to make sure your SampleJet firmware is reasonably current--I think
V9 or V10 is required to talk to the NEO since there's no serial ports on a NEO.
And you'll want to do this with the probes warm because you'll lose VT gas when
you're shutting down and disconnecting things.  And you'll need to move
the retrofit kit over with the NEO because it can't communicate with the
cryoplatform otherwise.

Cheers,Mike

Dear AMMRL,

We are considering a console swap between magnets and wanted input as to what
we might be overlooking.  The systems utilize 2 identical Oxford AS-600s
which have the same shim stacks and upper bore.  One system is a 4 channel
Bruker Neo that drives a DCH C/H-D CryoProbe with a SampleCase robot.
The other system is a 2 channel Bruker Avance III that drives a TCI H-C/N-D
CryoProbe and a SampleJet robot.  We want to take each console with its
HPPR and swap them so that we can better utilize the probes.

Will it be possible to do this?  What are the differences both hardware
and software wise concerning the change in robots?  Is there anything
the difference in architecture between AV-III and Neo will affect?
Both systems have the older version CryoPlatform (Z106902 ECL 06 manufactured
2015/2016).  There are likely many other points we’re missing
which is why I thought it best to ask advice and be sure we really want
to attempt this on our own.

Thanks,

John
