AMMRL: X server linux with Sun client

Since migrating my office computer over to linux (RedHat v5) from
windows, I'm trying to figure out how to setup remote logins to the
spectrometer which Exceed had faithfully accomplished for years. I found
that linux has a remote desktop connection (krdc) which supports VNC and
RDP servers (whatever they are!) which evidentally the Sun ultras
(running either 5.8 or 5.9) is not. Supposedly installing KDE on the Sun
might fix this, but I don't want to go there yet if there is something
easier. Looking in the archives I have seen mention of XFree86 here and
in Varian News a few years back (and problems associated with displaying
VNMR), but nothing on the subject recently. What is the best (simple?)
way of remotely running VNMR (6.1B/C) on a linux box from a Sun system.

Thanks in advance,

Neal
