To those AMMRL members interested in using removable media scsi devices
with Sun systems:

I am using a program from the net that allows use of Jaz drives as
rmscsi (removable scsi media) via volume management. It works (we're
using Solaris 2.5.1 w/Recommended patches through 4/97) but it isn't
completely robust. I have been told that Solaris 2.6, due out in
August, will have built-in support for this type of media.

If you can't wait for 2.6, I'd recommend looking at
http://blackhole.eas.asu.edu/zip/, which I found trying to re-locate
the URL for the unsupported program I'm using. The blackhole site lists
programs to support zip & jaz drives under Solaris2.x, SunOS 4.1.x,
Linux, and HP-UX.
