As of this morning, 48 Members of the House have agreed to sign the letter
to Chairman Lewis and Ranking Member Stokes of the House Appropriations
Subcommittee on VA/HUD and Independent Agencies concerning funding for the
National Science Foundation. The letter, being circulated by Rep. Boehlert
(R-NY) and Rep. Kennedy (D-MA), requests a 7.2 percent increase in funding
for the NSF, the same level recently approved by the full House in the NSF
authorization bill.
The hope is to have at least 100 signatories before the letter is sent,
however, time is running short. In light of the budget agreement, the
letter will have to be sent by next week at the latest. If you have not
contacted your Members and requested them to sign the letter, please do so
as soon as possible. The staff contacts are David Goldston in Rep.
