My apologies to non-USA list members.

The following comes from Howard Silver, Chairman of the Coalition for
National Science Funding:

Folks:

The Senate is expected to finish its consideration of the VA, HUD, IA
appropriations bill, including FY 1997 appropriations for NSF, today or
tomorrow.

The conference committee should convene shortly thereafter.

As of now, there are no changes expected to the Senate bill. If anything
occurs, I will let you know.

The message to the conferees remains support for the Senate numbers for
NSF. Key conferees are: Sen. Christopher 'Kit' Bond (R-MO), Sen. Barbara
Mikulski (D-MD), Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-CA), and Rep. Louis Stokes (D-OH).
The rest of the conferees will probably be the others members of the House
and Senate VA,HUD, IA appropriations subcommittees.

The time to get the word out is now. Thanks for you help.

Howard
