Intro and request for demo specs

Greetings,

Since this is my first message to the list an introduction is probably in
order. I manage the UNC Biomolecular NMR Facility (impressive name, eh?)
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At present we have a
Bruker AMX 500 with three axis gradients. I'm currently putting together a
fourth channel as another 13C channel. Much of the work here is 2D and 3D
spectra of labeled proteins although we do a fair amount of small molecule
spectroscopy to help pay the bills. Almost all of our customers are from
UNC, with a few from nearby universities.

One of the faculty members recently got several grants funded to finance
the purchase of a new spectrometer. Present funds are adequate to allow us
to purchase another 500 and upgrade our five year old 500. If we can beg,
borrow, or liberate a little more money we will try to get a 600.

If you have recently purchased a 500 or 600 I would be interested in
learning about specifications that you used to make (or justify) your
choice of spectrometer. Any additional 2D or 3D experiments that you
required the manufacturer to demonstrate would be of special interest.

If this is a duplicate, I apologize for wasting your time. My first
message seemed to disappear in the direction of /dev/null.

Thanks,

Greg Young
