Magnetic shielding for NMR/MRI magnets can be acomplished by at least two
methods. The first is to use single or multiple layers of mu metal to enclose
an area. However, this gets to be quite expensive. The second alternative is
to use sections of 1/8" or 1/4" steel plate laminated together for varying
degrees of field containment. These would be installed around ceilings,
walls, etc. This solution is also not particularly cheap, and could turn into
a major construction project.
