We are trying to decided what constitutes heavy nmr usage for a 300 MHz
spectrometer that is used to collect primarily 1D data. Since most
students seem to want to work normal hours (that's why they don't graduate
on time) they complain they can never get on the instrument. An analysis of
the actual usage indicates that there appears to be time in the late
evenings and weekends. When I suggest that there is time available the
faculty just voice the student complaints.
If you have an instrument that is used primarily for 1D data collection:
Approximately how many hours per week is it used?
How many students currently use the instrument?
How many instruments do you have that fall into this category?
Any suggestions as to how to encourage the students to use the off hours
(other than a whip) would be greatly appreciated.
If you would like this data summarized and sent out please let me know.
