I have lately experienced some frustration with magnet vibration
isolation mounts that I would like to share. We are "fortunate" to
have our lab located on the fourth floor of a brand new building
overlooking the Rideau canal in Ottawa. We had an AMX-500 installed
about a year and a half ago with inflatible vibration isolation
mounts for the magnet legs. The isolation mounts nicely take care of
all the problems associated with floor vibration at our site, but
there is an additional problem. These mounts, which are connected to
our compressed air supply need to be adjusted every few days in order
to keep the magnet level. The shims, of coarse, are VERY sensitive
to the position of the magnet and because we have to relevel it every
couple of days we must spend a great deal of time reshimming in
order to maintain lineshape specification.
Has anyone experienced (and solved) a similar problem? We cannot
afford an antivibration table.
Cheers:
