Receiver Gain Problem

Dear Spinners,
We have a receiver gain problem on our DMX 500MHz machine, which uses a
SE451 receiver. When the parameter rg (receiver gain) is less than 128,
signal changes proportionally with rg as expected. However, once rg is in
the range from 256 to 32k, the actual gain is 36dB lower than it should be.
This leads to the same signal intensity at both rg=4096 and at rg=64,
because the two rg values differ by 36dB under normal conditions. Any
insight into the problem is more than welcome.
Thanks.
Jerry Hu
