we have recently had to replace a sparc2 with an equivalent box obtained
from a used sparc vendor. all seemed quite well until we tried to access
a) a magneto-optical drive attached to the system and b) the code for
NMR1. has anyone had a similar problem? the problem seems to stem from
the change of hostid with the new motherboard. while the mag-optical
vendor is still available to help with rebuilding the kernel to allow
acces to the old unit, the vendor for NMR1 has been purchased (i
think...) and i have not been able to get a new password. also, our old
fortran compiler does not work either...

any ideas?
