Hi,
I might add that it would be nice to use a two-stage roughing pump which can
achieve on the order of 1-3 mbar whereas quite a few single-stage pumps
achieve only around 1 mbar which may stretch it a bit.
Yes to using a vacuum meter! 8-)
Btw. the pumping adapter on your helium transfer line looks strikingly like
the one used in some nitrogen dewars, so there may be a dual benefit from
getting this adapter ;-)
