We have done the same on the fill side so we can use steel braided LN2 hose
from the dewar to the magnet. We are going to do the same on the exhaust as
we’ve had a few latex hoses shatter recently. You really shouldn’t
be using rubber with LN2.

even though it „can NOT cope with the temperatures“, we are
using it over 20 years and magnets and people are still alive and happy.

The material can NOT cope with the temperatures - it is up to -5°C capable.

Sorry, please use an ordinary opaque latex tube in the correct size. So you
can vent of the cold nitrogen gas and liquid nitrogen.

We are using for the filling process a special hose system

we are using the reinforced PVC tube (softenned PVC both inner part as well
as the outer part) like this

This kind of tube works well, once upon a time it breaks, so we cut a new
piece. At a price of ~ 30 CZK/m it does not matter.

Hi all

This is a ridiculously stupid question, but my Google-fu is currently failing me.

Our exhaust tubing (the type you put on the N2 exhaust port during nitrogen
fills so it doesn’t spit everywhere – we have Oxfords and
a Bruker, all of them seem to be the standard dimension) is ratty, and I am
currently trying to replace it. I’m measuring an inner diameter of
1.6 cm / 0.66”. It seems like the sort of thing I should easily be
able to order on Aldrich or Fisher, but I’m failing to find any
flexible tubing (rubber or otherwise) of that dimension.

Does anyone have a link to a supplier of the correct ID of tubing? Preferably
something that I don’t need to buy in 100’ coils.

This seems like it should be a ridiculously simple thing to find, but I spent
awhile searching and didn’t have any luck.
