The Department of Chemistry is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive
Technical Specialist with knowledge of NMR spectroscopy or high-pressure
flow systems, and experience developing equipment, to join our Faculty
Technical Operations team.
The person appointed to this role will develop, maintain and promote the
newly-acquired high-pressure and flow NMR system in the Department of
Chemistry, and support users in the use of this equipment. They will
provide a state-of-the-art NMR service to the University, in
collaboration with other staff in the Magnetic Measurements Technology
Platform. They will maintain spectrometers, probes and cryostat magnets
within the NMR facilities, in collaboration with instrument
manufacturers and platform staff, and take an active role in NMR-based
research projects within the University. They should establish and
maintain a network of external research and industrial users of
University NMR equipment.

The line managers will be me and Ralph Adams, and the position will be
fully integrated into the Manchester Methodology group. Although
advertised as fixed term, it is anticipated that the position will be
made more long term at the end of the grant-funded period.
