Hi AMMRL Community.
I'd like your help concerning replacement of my compressed air filters. I
ordered some filters for our Monnier hardware, but I'm suspicious of the
items I was delivered. I'd like your perspective before proceeding.
So far, my experience has been with Norgren brand filters, so the experience
of ordering and using Monnier items is new to me. Planning to replace all
the filters in the facility at once and keeping another set for spare, I
ordered ten from one of their two Illinois distributors.
The ten air filters were delivered loose in a single sealed bag, and there
is some dust visible inside, apparently resulting from the fiber-ey filters
rubbing against one another in shipment. Some also appeared a little yellowed.
This struck me as weird, so I called the distributor, and the person I talked
to didn't think there was anything unusual about this. It seems to me like
these filters are likely to deliver a dose of dust into the instrument air
(nitrogen) lines I'm aiming to keep clean.
Is it just me? I'm used to getting visibly clean Norgren filters packed
individually in separate boxes. I think the oil condensers generally come in
a sealed plastic bag inside the box. I've never thought twice about the filters
*contributing* particles, so I'm a little weirded out and would like some
perspective on my first time ordering Monnier consumables.
Your input will be appreciated.
Thanks. - Josh
