Presence of Ni in sample and how it affects the spectrum.

I was trying to get a 1D spectrum with my protein along with the Ni
beads that were being used for purification. I observed the linewidth to be
too broad for getting a high-res spectrum. Later I noticed that Ni is
ferromagnetic and I am wondering if this property gives rise to the observed
broadening of the lines. Does anybody have info. about getting a high
res. spectrum with Ni in the sample? My instrument is an INOVA 500 from
Varian.

Thank you and best wishes
