Seeking comments on experience with Varian non-service contract repairs

After many years as an all-Bruker camp we are considering
buying Varian. I am interested in hearing from academic
labs as to how service has worked for them, especially,
as will be our case, with no service contract. For many
years non-contract parts were outrageously priced.

Good telephone help w/o contract?
How timely?

Costs of parts w/o contract, access to swap prices?

Other costs?

Thanks for any input.

Charlie
