A favor to ask, especially those of you with varian software, someone
wants to convert spectrum to jcamp format, and i remember there was some
way to do it, but not sure if its buried in the userlibrary or someplace
else.
Thanks a lot.
To update any of you interested in that Sun problem we had with the RIP
tombstone icon in the performance meter, we think we have that figured
out, and thanks to all who made suggestions. Particularly to Rolf
Kyburz and maybe one other who actually found "You find this in Chapter 17
of the System Administration manual:
if the Ethernet is activated software-wise, but somehow not connected
(cable fallen off, transceiver broken?), the perfmeter indeed shows
that tombstone with "RIP" on it ... I therefore suspect you have some
Ethernet hardware problem."
This jived with a changeover of our ethernet system and assignment of new
IP to the computer.
We adjusted the local IP addresses. That fixed the problems with vnmnr and
allowed us to collect data again, but still had some error msgs indicating
ethernet connection was not right, that caused sporadic
problems. Finally realized we had a crossover cable we used with our
hub, which we didn't need any more, and needed a direct cable for the new
network connection. Once this fixed, we seem to be working fine now.
Oh , one more note, that RIP icon in perfmeter is still there. But not
bothering anything, at least that i can tell. So at least we were not
hacked, as I and many others had thought.
Thanks again to all that sent msgs.
