RE: saving the vnmr spectrum to a ps/jpg format.

The chempack package in Varian userlib has a simple utility called fpage.
As long as the current plotter is defined as a PS_A or PS_AR type,
fpage('filename','format') [where format is jpg, tif, pcx, etc.] will save
the plot under filename.format. The fpage macro works just like page
macro. For example, one would execute pl pscale pap
fpage('myplot','pcx').

This macro uses the standard ghostscript utility. Type "convert -help"
in the SUN terminal window to see all the formats this supports. I do not
think it supports pdf, but someone said it does.

Other macros of interest in this regard are fplot [works like the plot
macro], epage [sends the plot file via email - this assumes that mailx
works on SUN] and eplot [similar to fplot but sends the plot via email].

Just my two cents

A program called Transverter pro works for manipulating .ps or .eps files.
It will also convert .eps or .ps files to other many formats like jpg or
emf. I really like it for importing files into reports.

Additionally don't forget to send the output of the vnmr printer to a
postscript printer type for the page('file.ep') printer command.

Kumar is clearly referring to a Varian system running VNMR.

The ".ps" file is a generic PostScript file. We have found two methods
to be most useful, both of which require the purchase of Adobe software.

1) If you copy the .ps file to a PC with Acrobat (Distiller) installed,
you can open the file in Distiller, and it will be automatically
converted to a standard PDF file.

2) If you wish to manipulate, edit, and otherwise play with the .ps
file, Adobe Illustrator will open the .ps file directly, and you can add
other elements (annotations, ChemDraw structures, ...etc.). From
Illustrator, you can save (or export) the file into many formats, such
as Windows Enhanced Metafile, JPG, or PDF.

If you don't want to buy any expensive software, you can get
Ghostview/Ghostscript (Downloadable from http://www.ghostgum.com.au )
for a variety of operating system platforms. My experience with the
quality of the results (especially when exporting to other file formats)
is not as satisfying as what I can get with Adobe Illustrator.

I've used other methods, and there are probably other programs out there
that I don't know about, but I've finally settled on the Illustrator
solution to generate publication quality figures from the PostScipt
output from VNMR.

Hi all,
I am trying to save the spectrum into a Postscript file or JPG file. I
tried through vnmr to save a spectrum by page command i.e page('file.ps').
But I cant be able to open the ps file it saves.
Is there any other way to do this?
thanks
kumar
