The Analytical Research Department of Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research,
a division of the Warner-Lambert Corporation, is seeking an experienced NMR
facility manager to support the Medicinal Chemistry program at Ann Arbor,
MI. The facility currently supports the needs of ~140 synthetic chemists
with 3 Varian systems, two of which have autosamplers.
The duties of the position are to provide direct analytical support to
synthetic and medicinal chemists in the field of NMR spectroscopy for small
molecule NMR services including:
1. Set-up, operation, and maintenance of automated NMR spectrometers used
on an open-access basis by the synthetic chemists.
2. Development of new automated NMR methods.
3. Strategic planning and enhancement of these NMR systems.
4. Consultation with the synthetic chemists on NMR data interpretation, the
design and execution of special experiments to address structural
assignment problems.
Minimum qualifications include:
1. Ph. D. in Chemistry with 3 years of post-graduate experience in the
application of NMR spectroscopy to small molecule structural problems.
Alternatively, a BS/MS in Chemistry with more than five years experience in
a similar industrial environment.
2. Substantial experience in UNIX systems management.
3. Track record in the operation and maintenance of NMR spectrometers.
4. Substantial experience in the interpretation of NMR spectra.
