Paramagnetic effects

AMMRLers,

There is a student in the department who is doing a reaction which will
(he thinks) react two metal-organic complexes to form a mixed metal
complex in which the oxidation state of one (both?) will change. The
metal he cares about should reduce and become paramagnetic. During the
course of the reaction, the signals from the ligands on _both_ metals
disappear. The metal he hopes to reduce cannot at this time be looked at
by NMR. The other metal has a signal (sharp) which changes only slightly
in chemical shift as the reaction proceeds.

Ideas? Suggestion? References?

Thanks a lot,

KAren Ann
