Dear AMMRL:
i have a request for an update on oxygen sensors. i have dr. fishbein's
summary from 2006 and it raised the question of reliability, and
particularly for the newer types of sensors, lifetime. it is generally
agreed that the electrochemical ones die within a year or so and require
recalibration semiannually.
his summary included two other types that were reviewed more favorably,
the zirconium dioxide based sensors, which i would think would have
interferences and the near infrared optical types. would anyone care to
share their experiences with any sensors they found lasted longer than
say 2 years and had lesser calibration requirements and or possibly less
expensive to maintain?
i'm sure with the money flowing out of the us government today there are
many of us who are buying new magnet systems and have safety officers
that are insisting on these things and could use an update.
i will post a summary if there is sufficient response.
yours
