Assistant/Associate Scientist and Director, NMR Core Laboratory
The University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas has an opening for an
Assistant/Associate Scientist and Director for its NMR Core Laboratory.
This laboratory focuses on structural and dynamic studies of small
molecules, providing service to the KU-Lawrence campus and the KU Medical
Center in Kansas City, KS, as well as investigators in Kansas and elsewhere
in the region. The NMR Core Laboratory operates five spectrometers: three
400 MHz and two 500 MHz Instruments. (Details on this facility may be found

http://www.msg.ku/nmr2.html) The Assistant or Associate Director
reports to the Office of Research and Graduate Studies. The position will
entail overseeing the operation of the laboratory, working with users on the
design and implementation of experiments and interpretation of data, and
maintaining active research collaborations. Required qualifications:
Assistant Scientist/Director: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in chemistry,
biochemistry, biophysics or closely related field; 5 yrs. experience in
application of small molecule NMR; strong written communication skills;
strong publication record and potential to attract external research
funding. Associate Scientist/Director: in addition to the qualifications
listed above, 5-10 yrs. experience in small molecule NMR; a strong
publication record in top tier peer-reviewed journals and proven ability in
attracting external research funding. Preferred qualifications are
optional for ads so these can be omitted to save on advertising costs.
