I am sending this announcement for review and subsequent posting on the
ammrl bulletin board. Thanks for the help,
Joe
The Laboratory of Medicinal Chemistry (LMCH), National Cancer Institute at
Frederick (Maryland, USA), National Institutes of Health, has a post doc
position available in NMR/structural chemistry. The laboratory uses
structure-based methods to design small molecules as inhibitors of
anticancer and antiviral molecular targets. The successful candidate
will use NMR spectroscopy to study the structures and conformations
of some of these analogues that have been either incorporated into novel
oligonucleotides or complexed with specific protein subdomains. The
position prequires a Ph.D. in chemistry/biochemistry with an emphasis on
biomolecular structure using modern NMR techniques. Experience with
recombinant technology for the expression of proteins and the determination
of protein and/or DNA structures by NMR-molecular dynamics is desirable. The
LMCH was recently relocated from Bethesda to a state-of-the-art chemistry facility
on the Fort Detrick campus in Frederick Maryland. The laboratory has the
latest technology for synthetic chemistry including updated laboratories
with modern IR, UV, polarimetry, CD, HPLC and MALDI mass spec. The NMR
facility houses two new Varian INOVA systems at 400 and 500 MHz (Installed
late summer 2000). The NCI/NIH community along with the universities of
Washington DC and Baltimore is the center of some of the worlds premier
NMR and biomedical laboratories. The NCI also has access to core facilities
at the Fort Detrick site for protein expression, mass spectrometry,
analytical chemistry, electron microscopy, genomics and high throughput analysis
Please send an updated CV with the names addresses, telephone numbers and email
