We are looking to replace our current Lotus Notes Analytical Database System
with a newer and less complicated piece of software. The current system
allows any employee of the company to input (over the internet) a request
for analysis, including a brief summary of the problem and/or desired
information. The request is then assigned to a number of analytical
personnel. Past requests are searchable .
Key points of concern are:
1. Web interface (so employees at other locations may enter and check status
of current analyses and search database of past requests),
2. Ease of use
3. Cost effectiveness
4. Searchability of database
5. Possible conversion of Lotus Notes Database into new software system.
6. Assignment of multiple scientists (and multiple analytical techniques) to
a request.
I would appreciate responses outlining what other companies use to track
their analyses. Thanks.
