Hi!

Recently I was asked to setup a routine Carbon with proton decoupling on
an AM-270 NMR with DISNMR software (probably mid 1980 vintage).

I took the parameters from the experiment the installer used for the
carbon spec. I used the benzene in acetone standard. The O2 frequency
was set to the frequency of the benzene proton. The decoupler power was
15H, the number of scans is 1.

I did the following procedure

RJ C13.001 (experiment the installer of the instrument used)
II (the BB light under the decoupler panel came on)
ZG
PO (to turn the decoupler off, the BB light under the
                decoupler panel went off).

I had varying success as far as the decoupling is concern. Sometime it
worked sometimes it didn't work (two peaks).

I don't have a lot of experience on AM systems and the experience I had
was from a couple of years back.
Does anyone see something obvious that I might be doing wrong? My
thoughts are that if varies given the same procedure and parameters that
the hardware my be unstable.

Thanks for any help
