Oops: I forgot! At one time a few years ago I had more frequent
communication problems. I took the side off the console to check the 5
Volts for ripple and setpoint. I found a DC fan connectedd backwards!
After replacing the fan the DC was reconnected the right way.
I tweeked the 5V per the service Dept. that's a lot of fun.
Varian has never made the powersupply easy to get to. Recall the XL100?
I think these 2 changes made the comm. more relyable, but who
knows.
Overall I am happy with the relyability on the U+500 and think the
later products are as good , or better.
I get an Ultra this month to replace my IPX!!!
