We have TopSpin 1.3 pl10 running on two spectrometers under CentOS. But we never tried it with Windows on these older instruments.

I have succeeded to make xwinnmr 3.5 on centos 6.5. You should succeed to do the same with topspin 1.3

All,

I'm writing to see if anyone has successfully installed and controlled a spectrometer using Topspin 1.3 (pl 10) on a Windows 7/8 machine using compatibility mode, Virtual Machine, or other method. I've got a legacy console (Bruker Avance) that, even with some board upgrades, will only support up to TopSpin 1.3 (per Bruker). Currently its running XWin-NMR on a Silicon Graphics O2 computer. We need to upgrade the computer (its getting harder to find replacement parts for it) and in doing so will need to upgrade TopSpin (XWin-NMR). IT would prefer a newer machine (no surprises there) and Bruker says the only Windows-based OS they can install TopSpin 1.3 on is Windows XP, which is not getting security updates anymore. Its also harder to justify spending money on a machine that is that deprecated.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have!

Sincerely,

Andy Surface
