AMMRL: definition of concentration...

Dear Friends
    Kindly bear with my ignorance on a basic concept such as this.   Am I right in defining the concentration of a solute like this :

       concentration of solute in mM = [weight of solute in mg] / [volume of solvent in ml] * [molecular weight]


I appreciate your input very much.
