Dear AMMRL,
last summer I posted a query for help on an issue with a Windows XP SP2
host running Xwin 3.5 losing communication to a Avance 500 console.
Initially we focused our attention on hardware fixes (new CCU and etc) then
on networking issues. It eventually became clear that the problem was due
to the Windows Firewall blocking the NFS server connection that Xwin needs
for PC-CCU communication.

Bruker has a script on their website to fix this:
http://www.bruker-biospin.de/NMR/nmrsoftw/passwd/updates/pc/xwinnmr/xwnmr3_5/index.html

or you can set an exception in the Windows Firewall settings for the program:
HCWINSVR.EXE
which is what we did.

In retrospect it was a simple fix but it took us awhile to get there, so
maybe this post will save other people some time.
Jeff
